When using high spec engines which produce a tonne of power there is always back lash of lots of heat in the engine bay and also in the drivers seat. For this project we have supported our customer with a full metcap insulation solution for the manifold and wastegate. We also prepared insulation foil to make a removeable heatshield for the tunnel of the car to protect the heat coming from the gearbox.

With a plan to produce 1100bhp with thisa 2jz engine. The use of insulation will give major benefits;

• Protecting other components within the engine bay from over heating
• Keep the exhaust gas temp within the manifold and improve the efficiency of the flow through the manifold/ wastegate
• Possibly the most import one of all… Reduce the heat within the cockpit to make the car driveable for the driver!

A lot of heat was also being generated from the gearbox and radiating up into the cockpit. Again not helping with making the drive bearable to last 20 mins… We made a template of dimpled foil and then produced a removable heatshield to go the length of the tunnel.
